GVM

Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM) represents the maximum/total weight of a loaded rigid vehicle including the payload (the weight you can load into a vehicle including all passengers, luggage/cargo, and accessories). This measurement is determined and published by the manufacturers on the vehicle’s compliance plate and included in the registrations.

Each manufacture will be given a rating which determines their maximum-allowed GVM for a rigid vehicle or the Gross Combination Mass (GCM) for combinations. It is possible to request for an approval for GVM upgrades. The recent (June 2018) federal ban on future Gross Combination Mass (GCM) upgrade approvals does not affect GVM upgrades.
