HR
Heavy Rigid (HR class) is the third-highest ranking class out of the five categories of a heavy vehicles licence. Heavy vehicles include all motor vehicles over 4.5 tonnes. HR class generally pertains to all motor vehicles that have 3 or more axles and over 8,000 kg in Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM). This vehicle assessment, however, may vary based on the state.
HR class licence allows you to drive most motor vehicles or combinations except for vehicle combinations that qualify for the higher heavy vehicle licence classes – Multi Combination (MC class) and Heavy Combination (HC class) – or motorcycles This licence is generally required for tow truck driving, furniture removal transport, and concrete agitator driving.
Heavy vehicle licencing is administered by state and territory road authorities and thus licence eligibility requirements per state often vary.
